    Conversations with Baldwin: Open Mic is an open mic for Global Majority poets to share their work, and features performances from local poets including Edson Burton. The event is hosted by Heather Marks (Words of Colour) and Saili Katebe (Raise the Bar), and is part of the wider Conversations with Baldwin festival celebrating the centenary of iconic writer James Baldwin (1924 - 1987).

    Conversations with Baldwin: Open Mic is welcome to poets, rappers, storytellers, lyricists, songwriters, and wordsmiths of all styles and levels of experience. If you'd like to perform or just sit back and listen to some of the city's finest wordsmiths, this is the evening for you.

    Want to perform? There are 12 places on a first come first served basis. Six places will be available to sign up on the door, with the other six places available to sign up beforehand by emailing Heather at Words of Colour: heather@wordsofcolour.co.uk

    Conversations with Baldwin is an arts festival produced by Words of Colour celebrating the 100th birthday of iconic 20th century writer and activist James Baldwin (1924 - 1987) across the UK. Conversations with Baldwin is supported by Bristol City Council’s Originator’s Fund and public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
